Exercises with French -GER Verbs
Exercise: Conjugating -GER Verbs
Practice conjugating common -ger verbs (manger, voyager, nager, changer, ranger, partager, corriger) in the present tense.
Remember: The nous form keeps the “e” (e.g., nous mangeons) to maintain the soft “g” sound.
1. Fill in the Blanks
Conjugate the -ger verb for each subject.
Je (manger) → Je mange une pomme.
Tu (voyager) → Tu voyages en France.
Il (nager) → Il nage dans la piscine.
Nous (changer) → Nous changeons d’avis.
Vous (ranger) → Vous rangez la cuisine.
Elles (partager) → Elles partagent un gâteau.
2. Sentence Correction
Fix the incorrect conjugations (watch for missing “e” in nous forms!).
Nous mangons du pain. →Vous voyagez souvent ? →
(Note: “Vous voyagez” is correct—no spelling change needed!)
3. Translation Challenge
Translate into French using -ger verbs:
We share the dessert. →I am swimming at the beach. →
4. Creative Writing
Write 3 sentences about travel or food using at least 2 different -ger verbs. Highlight the verbs.
