Exercise: French Seafood Terms
Practice identifying and using seafood vocabulary in French.
1. Write the French Word:
“crab” →
“shrimp” →
“salmon” →
“oyster” →
“tuna” →
2. Match the Seafood to Its Description:
“Un poisson gras souvent utilisé en sushi” →
“Un crustacé avec des pinces” →
“Petit poisson souvent en conserve” →
3. Correct the Errors (Spelling/Gender):
“la crabe” →
“le huitre” →
“la thon” →
4. Fill in the Blanks with Seafood Terms:
“J’ai commandé ___ (lobster) grillé pour le dîner.” →
“Les ___ (clams) sont délicieuses avec du beurre à l’ail.” →
“Ce restaurant sert un excellent ___ (fillet) de bar.” →
5. Translate into French:
“I love shrimp and oysters.”
“We ate grilled salmon yesterday.”
Notes:
- Gender Matters: Le homard (masc.) but la crevette (fem.).
- Contractions: L’huître (not “la huître”) because of the silent h.
- Plurals: Most add -s (les crevettes, les sardines).
